Ryan's Saloon & Broiler
About This Spot
Ryan’s Saloon & Broiler feels like stepping into a slice of Reno’s heart—a quietly familiar neighborhood bar where the comfortable hum of regulars blends effortlessly with the welcoming smiles behind the counter. It’s the kind of place where the light is bright enough to see every friendly face and every detail of the food being freshly cooked just behind the bar. The pace steadies itself to a soft pulse, shaped by easy conversations, the clink of glasses, and the sizzle of the grill.
Inside, there’s a genuine sense of community—locals mix with travelers, and everyone seems to find a spot that suits their mood, whether it’s perched at the bar or tucked into a corner booth. There’s an unpretentious charm here, a place that invites you to soak in stories and laughter as much as the flavors on your plate. The staff, multitasking effortlessly between shaking cocktails and flipping burgers, carry a warmth that makes the room feel alive but grounded.
The menu feels like a friendly nod to classic comfort food, done with heart and a steady hand. Burgers come hefty and satisfying, fries crisp and generous, and there’s a gentle nod to weeknight traditions—like those sweet moments when Pam’s cupcakes appear during bingo nights. These meals aren’t about fuss or flash but about the quiet joy in a satisfying plate shared among friends.
Ryan’s manages to hold onto that old-school vibe without feeling stuck in the past. It hums with an easy camaraderie that welcomes a mix of characters—locals, night-shift workers, and those simply looking for a reliable spot to pause and savor a moment away from the rush. It’s a place where you might pause for a quick meal or settle in for an evening, but either way, you leave feeling you’ve been part of something steady and real.

A low-key, old school, neighborhood bar with friendly service. This is your classic beer joint / hang-out spot. Tucked in one corner behind the bar they have a grill and a fryer so consider the menu. Being a predictable simpleton, I had a standard burger/fries/Coke and it was jumbo-sized and quite good. There were several other items worth checking out so ask for a menu. Of course, since this is Reno, my seat at the bar had a gaming machine so I played a few hands of Double Bonus Poker. Started with $20 and after a while cashed out at $22.00. So I was a winner in more ways than one.

So bright I thought it was closing time. Then I learned it was so we could all see each other and the food. A blend of locals, local burners, burners who seem like bikers, and Irish pub. I fit right in. Not sure why the bar rail is held up by elephants!

Bartender/Chef was AMAZING! Inviting, poured out drinks whipped us up lunch, chatted with us while serving the regulars and it was the 4th of July... hot she was flying solo and pregnant. Great experience great food will definitely go back!

I drove down from Tahoe and was looking for a dive with an amazing burger. My first reaction walking in: “have I overshot my target”? I grew even more skeptical as the bartender nonchalantly proceeded to prepare the burger in front of me. But that first bite quite literally made me eat my prejudice. I was drowned in char and juices, and inhaled the entire platter in minutes. The fries were a bit crispy for my taste, but the white sauce (ranch?) deserves a special mention - absolutely delicious. Truly a superlative dive bar burger. Totally worth the drive from Tahoe’s overpriced and mediocre offerings.

This is a friendly casual bar to duck into. You must order the sliders. The sliders are delicious!! Buns grilled perfectly. A tasty snack. 2 of us ordered 8 - they were that good. No fancy cocktails here, but they carry quality liquors and local bourbon. Eureka Gold or Small Batch With Bite paired with sliders for the win!

This is a dive bar done right. Great drinks and good food. The loaded fries were great and the corn dog was good too.

Totally awesome cheeseburger and fries, all made fresh on the spot! When you order a burger, the first thing they do is put fresh onion slices on the griddle. Then the meat goes on the char-grill. It comes off the grill with a bit of char and crispy edges- perfect. The fries are fresh cut, skin-on from a bin of whole potatoes, and could well be the best in Reno- at least the equal of great Basque-restaurant fries. Good Roma tomatoes on your burger- get it with everything.
